FOR THE EASTERN REGION BY THE EASTERN REGION
We are pleased to invite representatives from all 11 Local Authorities to our regional online training session, facilitated by
Millie Kerr — Racial Equity and Anti-racist consultant.
The use of language is a huge area for consideration in children’s services and in developing anti-racist practice when working with black and racially minoritised/global majority children, families and the communities we serve.
This webinar will deliver the following objectives:
Enable participants to develop a greater understanding of language and how it can unwittingly or intentionally discriminate and oppress the black and global majority children, families and communities we work with.
We will explore what our language may communicate, considering the spoken language and body language, the language we use in our written work and assessments. In addition, to looking at how we interpret what we may see through observations.
You will also develop a greater understanding of how stereotypical language, biases, beliefs, privilege and cultural misunderstandings can impact decision making. When working with black and global majority children, young people families and communities.
