A competition for all children homes in the Eastern Region.
Write a short story – win £100, £50, £25 for your home for top 3 entries.

You will be presenting Residential Child Care as a positive in children’s lives.
The story can be written by a child, a grown-up, a group – all are welcome.
750 – 1500 words
Stories will be read by a writer of children’s books, an academic, and an actor.
The stories will be collected and published in a free to access way – an e-book.

Children’s homes provide safe, empowering, and transformative environments that give young people
in care a stable foundation to heal, grow, and build their future.
Children’s homes are vital spaces where dedicated practitioners offer child centred care, turning
overwhelming events and emotions environments into true healing sanctuaries for children

Free regional EHCP moderation session with Invision360

Activity: Invision360 will deliver a remote moderation session involving local authorities in the region that have expressed interest. Invision360 will plan and deliver this session. Participants will be distributed into small groups, ensuring a mix of different LAs to collectively audit an EHCP. Multiple groups will audit the same EHCP, allowing for a demonstration of the levels of consistency in how the groups audit / grade both individual sections and the EHCP as a whole.

Outcome: There will be clear insight into how much there a ‘shared understanding’ of what a good / strong EHCP looks like. Consistencies and inconsistencies identified.

We are pleased to invite representatives from all 11 Local Authorities to our regional online training session, facilitated by 

Millie Kerr — Racial Equity and Anti-racist consultant.

This workshop will enable you to reflect on and consider the language we use in our written work and social work assessments.  You will have the opportunity to reflect on how bias, stereotypes, labels and beliefs can impact your decision making, when working with Black and global majority children, families and communities.

Objectives

•You will Consider the labels we may ascribe to children, families and the communities we serve, from Black and global majority backgrounds

•This workshop will enable you to look at how you can use language to elaborate on statements that are made.

•Be able to reflect on language that may adultify children

•Look at your written work through a racial trauma and trauma informed lens,

•Reflect on how behaviour can be a form of communication

Outcome

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

• Modify the language and labels that may be used within your written work, assessments and decision making.

•To consider more Anti-Racist approaches, as well as the lived experiences and impact of racism and discrimination faced by the communities we serve.
